Nano Techonology [Self Cleaning]

Want to take the pain out of window cleaning? Simple, use Nano-technology to turn your glass surfaces into self-cleaning glass!

I initially got into Nanotechnology for glass as I was tired of using stain removal methods and harsh chemicals to treat hard-water stained glass such as pool fences and shower screens... I stumbled upon Nanotechnology for glass by accident but tried out the product because I was interested in taking the pane out of cleaning shower screens... Terrible pun I know.

By coating your shower screens/ windows/ pool balustrades etc with Nano particles, you create a hydrophobic layer- that is a protective coating where water particles will be repelled. What this means is that any dirt particles etc are rinsed off when water hits the glass surface.

High quality Nano coatings consist of is a high performance, silica ( SiO 2 - Quartz) based nanotechnology product, which bonds extremely well and fast to glass (less than 0.5 seconds).
As Glass already contains Quartz ( SiO 2 ) the product physically and chemically integrates into the existing Quartz minerals within the make-up of glass and becomes one with the substrate.

This results in an extremely fast application process without any curing time as the Silica in our product integrates with the Quartz in glass, minimizing application time with maximum efficiency, especially in factory applications. Furthermore, the product has a very high quality alcohol content, which acts as a light cleaning agent as well and the easy removal of the residue. (can be polished or rinsed off). Therefore there is no need for any special cleaners (extra cost) for surface preparation. Our product has an unlimited shelf life due to the absence of silicon.

A Silicon based product on the other hand does not react as well upon contact with glass. As the Silicon, in the liquid form makes contact with the glass substrate, sufficient time must lapse to allow the alcohol (liquid) to evaporate and gives enough time for the Silicon Particles to adhere to the "top" layer of glass as it dries up and crystallizes. A noticeable streak in most cases is evident post application due to the light reflectivity of Silicon Particles and the UV refractive index is different to that of Silica. Silicon is well known for its stickiness and adhesion, but provides little resistance against abrasion and has poor longevity.

Nano-coating is especially useful in areas that would ordinarily end up with hard-water staining but can be applied to all glass areas. In Melbourne, Australia we have applied coatings to many houses located close to the beach with great success... The coating creates a non-stick layer on the surface of windows which allows the rain to simply rinse of the salt from the sea...
