Walt Disney Studios is converting The Lion King to 3D with a view to a 3D Blu-ray release in the fall of 2011 (coinciding with the advertised Diamond Edition Blu-ray). The Lion King is an animated film that takes place in a jungle paradise on the African plain. With powerful visual sequences and a clever and touching plot this film has stood the of time as one of the best animated movies ever produced. Adults and children alike will enjoy this film together while listening to its most famous soundtrack song Elton John’s hit single “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”.

With electronics corporations gaming companies and studios alike pushing 3D it was only a matter of time before the animated classics took the extra-dimensional jump. A 3D version of Beauty and the Beast is probable to hit theaters in 2011 and the producer of many Disney classics Don Hahn just told Empire Magazine that another animated favorite will be popping up in 3D soon. Fans of Simba and Mufasa be prepared. "I'm actually trying to work out a 3D conversion of The Lion King " Hahn explained. "It's going to be spectacular – we will do a good job for ya! The technology is tremendous. We did A Nightmare Before Christmas a few years ago and Tim [Burton] thought it was better than the original because it allows you to walk onto the set.
